These artworks are a reflection on and commentary about contemporary anti-social behavior stemming from incivility, rudeness, politics, unconscionable killings, and the like.
NO Series : An Unpleasant Conversation: Twenty-one white porcelain cups, 3" high by 4" diameter, with black and white decals made from 2-dimensional ink drawings by the artist from her NO Series drawings, NO, NOT, NOPE, NO-NO, are fired onto the cups. Each NO group of four is repeated five times, plus an extra NO cup. They are installed in an irregular grid (or may be rearranged in a regular grid) on a black lacquer Chinese table. A drawer on each side of the table contains one or more porcelain substrate trading cards with a single word of text on each, "NO," "NOT," "NOPE," "NO-NO," "MAYBE," "YES."
NO Series : A Contemporary Conversation: Twenty-five porcelain plates, 10 3/4" diameter, with black and white decals made from 2-dimensional ink drawings by the artist from her NO Series drawings, NO, NOT, NOPE, NO-NO, are fired onto the plates. Each group of four NO drawings is repeated eight times in two concentric circles. They are installed in a corner of the gallery in two concentric circles. Half of the circles on each wall, with NO's in the center, symbolize a dialogue between the opposing half circles.
